PRIVACY POLICY

Gooprep (“Gooprep”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) operates a digital tutoring marketplace accessible via www.gooprep.com and any associated mobile applications (collectively, the “Platform”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard information when students, parents, and tutors (“you” or “users”) use the platform and describes the choices and rights available to you regarding your information.

This Privacy Policy should be read together with our Terms and Conditions. By accessing or using the Platform, you consent to the collection and use of information as described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the platform.

We collect information in the following categories:

a) Information you provide directly

●      Account details: full name, email address, phone number, date of birth, and password

●      Profile information: academic level, subjects of interest, learning preferences, location, and profile photograph

●      Tutor-specific information: academic qualifications, teaching credentials, government-issued identification, references, hourly rates, availability, and bank or mobile money details for payouts

●      Parent/guardian consent details, where a user is between sixteen (16) and eighteen (18) years of age

●      Communications with Gooprep, including support requests, feedback, and dispute submissions

●      Content you submit through the Platform, including messages, uploaded documents, images, videos, ratings, and reviews

b) Information collected automatically

●      Device information: device type, operating system, and unique device identifiers

●      Usage data: pages viewed, features used, search and filter activity, session duration, and click patterns

●      Location data: approximate location derived from IP address or, where permitted, precise device location, used to support tutor-matching and in-person lesson coordination

●      Cookies and similar tracking technologies, as described in Section 6

c) Information from third parties

●      Payment confirmation and transaction status information from our payment processors (MTN Mobile Money, Vodafone Cash, Paystack, and Flutterwave)

●      Identity or credential verification results from third-party verification services engaged by Gooprep, where applicable

We use collected information to:

●      Create and manage user accounts, and verify tutor identity and credentials

●      Operate the AI-powered matching engine and deliver tutor recommendations and search results

●      Facilitate bookings, scheduling, in-app messaging, and lesson coordination

●      Process payments, hold funds in escrow, release payouts, and manage refunds and cancellations

●      Communicate with you about your account, bookings, policy updates, and customer support

●      Send promotional and marketing communications, subject to your preferences and applicable consent requirements

●      Publish tutor profile information for platform promotion, as described in our Terms and Conditions

●      Monitor, maintain, and improve the security, safety, and performance of the Platform

●      Detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, and violations of our Terms and Conditions

●      Comply with applicable legal, regulatory, and tax obligations

Where applicable, Gooprep processes personal data on the basis of your consent; the necessity of processing to perform our contract with you (for example, facilitating a booking); our legitimate interests in operating, securing, and improving the Platform; and compliance with legal obligations under the laws of Ghana.

Gooprep does not sell personal information. We may share information in the following circumstances:

●      Between students/parents and tutors, limited to the profile, scheduling, and communication information necessary to arrange and conduct a lesson

●      With payment service providers (MTN Mobile Money, Vodafone Cash, Paystack, and Flutterwave) solely to process payments and payouts

●      With service providers who support our operations, such as cloud hosting, customer support tooling, and identity verification services, under confidentiality and data protection obligations

●      With regulators, law enforcement, or courts where required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Gooprep, our users, or the public

●      In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, subject to continued protection of personal data under this Policy or its successor

●      With your consent, or at your direction, for any other purpose

We retain personal information for as long as your account remains active and for a reasonable period thereafter to comply with legal, tax, dispute-resolution, and record-keeping obligations. Booking, payment, and transaction records may be retained for longer periods as required by applicable financial and tax regulations. When information is no longer required, we take reasonable steps to securely delete or anonymise it.

The platform uses cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, understand how the platform is used, and improve tutor-matching accuracy. You can control cookies through your browser or device settings; disabling certain cookies may limit some platform features.

Gooprep employs administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information, including AES-256 encryption for stored data and secure transmission protocols. Access to personal information is limited to personnel and service providers who require it to perform their functions. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and while we work to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Subject to applicable law, including Ghana’s Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843), you have the right to the following:

●      Access the personal information Gooprep holds about you

●      Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information

●      Request deletion of your personal information, subject to our legal and legitimate business retention needs

●      Withdraw consent to marketing communications at any time

●      Object to, or request restriction of, certain processing of your information

Most of these rights can be exercised directly through your account settings. For requests we cannot fulfil through account settings, please contact us using the details in Section 13.

The platform is intended for use by individuals sixteen (16) years of age or older. Users between sixteen (16) and eighteen (18) years of age may only use the platform with the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian, consistent with our Terms and Conditions. Gooprep does not knowingly collect personal information from children under sixteen (16) without appropriate parental or guardian consent. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under sixteen (16) without such consent, we will take steps to delete that information.

Gooprep primarily stores and processes data within, or in service of, the Ghanaian market. Where information is processed by service providers located outside Ghana (for example, cloud infrastructure or payment processing partners), we take reasonable steps to ensure such providers apply data protection standards consistent with this Policy and applicable law.

As set out in our Terms and Conditions, tutors grant Gooprep a license to use profile photographs, display names, subjects, qualifications, and ratings for the purpose of promoting the Platform and the tutor’s services across digital and print marketing channels. This Privacy Policy governs how that same profile information is otherwise collected, stored, and protected.

The Platform may contain links to third-party websites or services, including payment providers. This Privacy Policy does not apply to those third parties, and we encourage you to review their respective privacy policies before providing them with information.

Gooprep may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or legal requirements. We will notify users of material changes via email or in-app notification. Continued use of the Platform following such notice constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
